i have a question, if i counter steer too much, meaning that if i push the handle bar to much could i lean too much and possibly drop the motorcycle?

  8. calfan3 says:

omg..i still dont understand………idk why..im thinking too much.
so if i wanna go left? (on a sportsbike)…..i push DOWN on the left handlebar?

  9. MotorcycleAssistant says:

At normal road speeds yes. When you are out riding at speed simply concentrate on just pushing forward on either the left or right handlebar grip gently. You will then see that the motorcycle will move in whatever direction you push forward.

I would recommend a bike with fewer cc’s. Something like a v-star 250 is perhaps the best bike to learn on. You have to remember that its about learning the basics and gaining confidence, not about ego. A smaller bike will allow you to have your feet flat at stops, be nimble and will have the right amount of power to have fun and be safer at the same time. In addition, if bought relatively new you can ride for one season and upgrade without too much depreciation because there are always….

Dang your videos are the best I can find, thanks for all the info I about to get a honda Night Hawk as my first road bike I think it will be a great one to just learn on what do you think?

  18. arcadia4559 says:

When I first got my scooter (yeh I know not a real bike) a “real” bike rider told me about counter steer and it was the best thing I could have learned straight up because in my head I always had the idea that you turned by leaning. Sometimes if I’m on a quiet road by myself I practise swerving using counter steer – sounds dorky but it’s the kind of thing I want to happen intuitively if the need demands it – great video!
