Quitgas! Clean, Quiet, Fun, Electric Motorcycle

Update February 2009 Well, I am happy with this project except for one issue in order to service batteries and experiment with the bike, clear access to the batteries and electronics is needed. Unfortunately, removing the Ninja bodywork for this access requires removing the mirrors, front blinkers and windscreen, making the bike unsafe probably illegal to ride. The solution is some type of one-piece body that is easily removed and does not support the mirrors and blinkers. So back into the ...

You never know. The builder might live in a location where the primary generation of electricity is through a hydroelectric dam/solar.

or wind.. but really, what are the chances of that? places like that are completely insignificant. but i can’t lie, i’d like to live there :) .

Can’t say for every state, but in CA, if its got 2 wheels, a motor and you are using it on the roads, yea you do.

Awesome man. I have a dead 650 Katana that I’d love to do this to, but lack the metal skills. The charge cord in the gas tank, I can hardly stand the irony of that. Love it.

good job, but the earth’s natural temperature rise causes CO levels to rise, so quitting gas won’t solve anything

  12. Abeastlypie says:

Well, quitting gas will save some more and let earth produce more before we take more away ;)

Regular street bikes are way better. I think the sound of and engine is way better than any electric thing. but that was a cool project…….. check my channel out if you want to here a motorcycle engine

Nice job. Only if you could add some noise to that thing so people know your coming. Having a loud motorcycle is a good thing while in traffic, gets peoples attention and let’s them know you’re there..What do you plan on doing with all those Toxic batteries once they are no good? I always wondered how adding more batteries to our landfills is more “GREEN”? But I guess there’s a down side to eveything..

  20. scoobydog411 says:

Well done. How much $ it to convert it ?

In few years, electric motorcycles with BRUSHLESS motors and LI-PO batteries will be available.
I will be the first one to buy one (I’ve been riding gas motorcycles for 25 years).
In about 10 years, electric cars and motorcycles will perform better than gas for a selling price that will be at least %50 less than gas vehicules.

  22. MrJohnnyrace says:

Right now there are only a few of these for sale on the market. I would as a consumer be very interested if the price was more affordable. Some of these are $36,000. Very overpriced!! BUT, We need this.

  23. DynamicReality says:

We should begin, this is a revolution. It is a movement to revive Earth. To clean Earth. To end evil for all times, so that thousands of years later, there will be no World Wars. No Evil is left because we didnt think for the future. No deaths, no Holocaust, No Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A WORLD FLAG WITH A MESSAGE THAT SAYS IT STRAIGHT OUT!!!
