Hi, was at Oulton park when Baz knocked a young police woman over when she was directing traffic in his Rolls on the way out of the paddock.
She picked herself up and was ok .
Baz opened the window and shouted ” all right love”. Nice flash of blue knickers.

The great man Barry Sheene, RIP.
Modern day fairy pooftahs like Valentino Rossi are not even worthy to clean his boots.
The ’70s were the days of real men, and real racing, on evil-handling, fire-breathing rocketships that tore tyres apart, and made frames flex like they were made of cardboard.
    Barry Sheene was the man!

  8. advancedbiker says:

I agree, I used to be a track marshall at Oulton Park and saw Barry many times. A great man, even when he tried to run me over….. Those old 500′s sound like a bag of spanners, but they didn’t half go well

As a 7 year old I was told via my Dad, By Mr Sheene to “Get The Fuck off my Bike” in the paddock at Silverstone, HE WAS JOKING!!! That guy was a legend.

  10. johncliffe39 says:

Anybody got any film of the late, great Cal Rayborn on his Harley-Davidson in the Transatlantic races ????, it sounded like a high-speed ashmatic tractor.

Great post I went to several trans atlantic series so good to see and hear the the best of the riders and machines. Sheene, Grant, Mamola et al.. where has the time gone?

  22. advancedbiker says:

Did you go to Oulton Park when they spelt all the banners wrong..I went to the Transatanic Races…..

  23. amoshep says:

Yes I seem to remember the banners being wrong, also there was a huge furore at Mallory one year with someone riding naked around the outside of the circuit and in the paddock. I also remember going to Brands for a leg of the trophy- Ah Easter weekends! Freezing cold wet and pushing the bike home!

  24. johncliffe39 says:

I saw all the early trans-atlantic races, some great races and riders, including the late-great Cal Rayborn on his H-D. I was in San Diego last year and visited Cal’s grave, so many years have passed, but the memories still remain,
